We are all Called to Serve

Service opportunities at First United Methodist Church for Worship, Outreach, Nurture and Youth, Adult and Children's Ministries.
  • Volunteer for sign language, dance interpretation, mime or scenery/props. Seasonal lesson enhancements.
  • Arrive at the service 15 minutes early and greet members and visitors.
  • Arrive 15 minutes early and stay 15 minutes after the service and be at the Welcome Center in Wesley Hall to answer questions and greet people
  • Usher before and during service or special events.
  • Lead a time to hear prayer requests and praise reports. Conclude time of prayer with "Lord we have heard the voices of your children and we lift them up to you, God." followed by the Lord's Prayer with congregation.
  • Spending time in the Prayer Room during each of the services and Sunday School. Prayer request cards from the congregation are present in the Prayer Room.
  • During funerals, weddings or other special events volunteer to prepare communion in the Sanctuary or Wesley Hall.
  • Volunteer to serve communion during worship and special services. Say to each participant when holding the juice "The blood of Christ Shed for you". When holding the plate of bread "The body of Christ given for you".
  • Opportunity to share your talents singing or playing instruments. Select all that apply.
  • Serve as acolyte for 8:30am or 11:00am Worship - 3rd grade and older, teens & adults. Acolyte lights the candles at the beginning of the service and extinguishes them at the end of the service. The Crucifer carries the Cross in and out of the service.
  • Volunteer to work with the sound or video systems during church services and special events such as weddings, funerals and programs.
  • Communion and altar preparations for worship and special events per check list provided for each service.
  • An opportunity to work with church mission activities. Check all that apply.
  • Service to our adult members
  • Meet & connect with others during a time of study and sharing. Join a Sunday School class. Meet at 10:00am Sunday mornings. More information on classes at the Wesley Hall Welcome Center and outside the Sanctuary.
  • Several opportunities to assist with Children's ministries as a leader or assistant.
  • Work with Junior/Senior youth programs - Sunday Evening and special programs.
  • Participate and receive more information on these programs.
